Scruffy Pup.

If you know me in real life, you'll know I am crazy about dogs. I fall in love with every single one I see. I'm terrible at pointing out every dog I walk past to anyone I am with. I rode a bike into a bench last year because I saw a boxer puppy. I think they're the best things on the planet.

When we moved into our new house, with a secure yard I had the landlord write a 'dog claus' into our contract hoping that at some point I could convince Dixon we should bring a dog home. I really wanted to adopt, so after a little convincing we went to a local rescue centre and met a 7-8 year old dog named Hector. He was awesome. We went back and walked him a couple of times and it all seemed set. But, after the shelter owner went through some of his issues we had doubts. Hector had had a really shitty time when he was younger (they think he was used in dog fighting and had scars to show it) and it had caused him to not be a fan of other dogs or strangers. And, he was known to freak out when in the dark too. I still thought we could help him, dedicate some time to him and give him a forever home, but Dixon was more realistic. Hector is a powerful dog and I couldn't bare the idea of him hurting someone under our time and having to be put town. So, even though it broke my heart, we decided to not go ahead with the adoption. It sucked.

I pretty much wrote off the idea of getting a dog after that. But, after a few months we decided to start looking again. This time for a puppy, of a smaller breed. We went to meet a family a week or two ago and one little guy came straight over to us. She was so playful and confident we had to have her. And now, she is home with us!

Her name is Eva and she is pretty amazing. She is completely black, from head to claw and is a little scruffy. She is almost 8 weeks old. Eva is the fastest runner in the world and has absolutely no spacial awareness at all. On her first day here she summersaulted out of her bed and into her water bowl soaking herself, her bed and her toys. She keeps running under the table and hitter her  head too, but she doesn't seem to mind at all.

It has been a long time since I have had a puppy and I was so worried that she would be sad the first few days we had her home after leaving her sisters, but she seems to be pretty independent! And very happy. Which is a huge relief. She did a little bit of a cry last night when we put her to bed. Other than that though, she has been fine! Eating playing and sleeping perfectly.

Its going to be a lot of work bringing her up by ourselves, but I am so excited to see her grow! She is going to be the best company on the weekends that Dixon is away, and I'm pretty sure once all the puppy shots are out of the way I am going to have the best exploring buddy there is. I really can't wait to take her out for the first time.

ps. My instagram is going to turn into a bit of a puppy fest so give me a follow: chlough !
