20 minutes a day.

The problem with me and fitness is that as I was growing up I never realised it was important. I mean, I wasn't a fat kid. I loved climbing trees and riding my bike. But I never had an active hobby, nothing I'd do on a regular basis or strived to get better at.

Then high school hit, and I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I actually took part in a PE lesson. Exercise and fitness all add up to a good body and health, I didn't get that. I think finally at 23 I may be starting to realise that it just come naturally. Workout is normal and it doesn't have to be a chore.

I also need to keep reminding myself that the results wont happen over night. It will be worth it in the end. Losing a dress size or two would be amazing, but feeling good about myself would be even better.

So, here is my pledge: I will work out for at least 20 minutes each day and review how its going in 3 months. Morning or evening doesn't matter. These will generally be at home (we have weights, a cycle-turbo trainer and I'm investing in a yoga matt), but I will also be swimming and bike riding.

I'll be taking an instagram photograph every day to let you know how I'm getting on. Follow me @chlough or online here. And, please please wish me luck!!

  1. Hi Chloe, I've been reading your blog for a few months and I enjoy it very much.

If you run out of workout ideas to do on your new yoga mat, you should have a look at Fitness Blender's and Cassey Ho's (aka Blogalites) youtube channels, they're great!

Also, if you can't be bothered to exercise someday, I think taking a walk (even in town) is still beneficial.

    Good luck :)

  5. This is all so true! I'm in college now and it's only recently that I've really started to love exercise and realize that (if you do it right) it's not a chore! It's...fun!!! I'd also recommend joining some sort of sport if you can - it gets you out of the house and you usually make great friends! :]]

    1. Yes! It doesn't have to be something you force yourself to do. I'm thinking of joining a spin class actually!! Perfect idea.

  6. Working out can be really enjoyable if you change it up often and do lots of different things and also get some friends involved. Just some advice too: twenty minutes is awesome for starting up but if you want in on some delicious endorphins you should work out for longer (build up to it!). Once you get used to those endorphins, it's really hard to take working out of your daily routine. Good luck!

    1. 20minutes is my minimum!! Most days, hopefully, I'll be aiming to do more, but 20 minutes is my vital minimum.

      Thank you!!!

  7. I need to get moving as well! It's such a push when other people around you are doing it on a regular basis. I, like you, would love to be able to fit into a size, or two, smaller.
    You can do it!

  8. Best of luck to you I think this is a wonderful idea that is easy enough to follow =]. I LOVE sometimes just putting on music and dancing around my apartment while I clean. It's not a super duper cardio 5000 megatron work out, but I like it =]

    1. Yes! Exactly. Work outs don't have to be press ups for 20 minutes! It can be anything that gets your heart going. I built a HUGE bookcase today, that totally went towards my workout. I was DYING afterwards.
